"Eye of the Tiger"

Hello all,

I have been putting music on my 1 gig Zen (not Zune...Mark) music player. I have lots of praise and worship CD's on it such as PC&D, Casting Crown, Michael W. Smith, ect... Also as i have been raise up on Country, I have some classic songs that usually have something to do with someone's girlfriend leaving them or their dog dying or visiting their mama in prison!

But i was also wanting to get some classic motivational songs to help me climb to the tops of each of the many mountains i will be transversing. So, I will definelty be downloading "Eye of the Tiger"! Just hearing the name of the song, my mind starts singing the signature beat of the song, and my body soon follows, with me shadow boxing the air as I try to imitate Rocky. I am sure you are doing the same just now!

So, I was wondering if anyone had more ideas of classic motivational songs that i might seek to download to help me with the hike! Much appreciated!

I played Eye of the Tiger in pep band in Jr High AND for a piano recital...no kidding, I really did.

I like R-E-S-P-E-C-T that one gets me going :)...but maybe that's cuz I'm a girl.

My CD collection is at your disposal. If nothing else, I'm sure you can find something inspirational in "Jock Jams". Would only be fair after all those MacGuyver episodes I have been watching lately. Too bad you don't have a tape player because then you could borrow "2 Legit 2 Quit" by MC Hammer.

When I was in high school I use to listen to the theme song to "Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves" before each volleyball game to get me motivated.

How about Top Gun. That is a classic movie. "Danger zone" and many other good ones.

I have We Didn't Start the Fire and It's the End of the World (or something like that - the REM song) on my ipod for when it's time to get fired up.

How about...Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive...or Destiny's Child - Survivor...or Garth Brooks - Standing Outside the Fire...or as found on the "Cars" movie sound track...Life is a Highway? Not saying they are theologically correct...I'm just sayin...

Jeremiah...Greg from HH here. WHATEVER YOU DO!!...you simply must take a copy of Garth Brooks "The River" and "We Shall Be Free"

I have a collection of 5000+ MP3's I would be glad to copy to a USB drive for you...or you could stop by sometime and sift thru them if you like. It would save you some money in download fees.

Does your Zune have an add-card slot for a CF or SD card?...maybe that way you could bring a few more gigs of tunes. Surely a small digital card like that wouldn't add any signifigant weight to your pack.

Otherwise, here are a few that come to my mind...maybe not so much your style but they are some classics that always make me feel good.

1.) Dan Fogleberg "Leader of the Band"
2.) Joe Walsh "Life's Been Good"
3.) ABBA "Take A Chance" (I know cheesy but always make me smile)
4.)CCR "Bad Moon Rising"
5.) CCR "Fortunate Son"
6.) Eagles...buch of their good classic tunes.
7.) Eart Wind & Fire "September"
8.) Wilson Picket "Land of 1000 Dances"
9.) Bob Dylan "Blowin In The Wind"...what a great hiking tune that would be.
10.) Beach Boys "Sloop John B"...save that for the last leg of the journey
11.) Buffalo Springfield "For What Its Worth"
12.) The Doors "Break on Through (To the Other Side)"
13.) Simon & Garfunkel "Mrs. Robinson"
14.) The Youngbloods "Lets Get Together"
15.) The Byrds "Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is a Season)"
16.) The 5th Dimension "Age of Aquarius-Let The Sun Shine In"
17.)Thee Dog Night "Joy To The World"..gotta have that being your named Jeremiah and all!
18.) Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band "Against The Wind"
19.) James Brown "I Feel Good"
20.) The Beach Boys "I Get Around"
21-22.) John Denver "Sunshine On My Shoulders", AND "Take Me Home Country Roads"
23-25.) Amy Grant "Thy Word", "Angels", "El Shadai" AND "I Have Decided"
26.) Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band "Old Time Rock & Roll"
27.) The Doobie Brother "Jesus Is Just Alright"
28.) Norman Greenbaum "Spirit In The Sky"
29.) BTO "You Ain't Seen Nothin Yet"
30.) John Anderson "Seminole Wind"
31.) Free "All Right Now"..the original not the crappy remakes by Van Halen or Korn

...and I could go on all night. Hope at least a few of these strike your fancy. See you around the unit.

I found the link to the blog off of Red Couch. Yay for a blog about the AT! I am very excited to continue reading the rest of your posts.

Music. I LOVE MUSIC! I have 17 GB of music on my iPOD, which seems like an awful lot compared to your 1 GB. Let me see if I can think of a song for you...

I've got it! "Rockstar" by Third Day! :)
