The story behind this photo ... 

Today we woke up in a hotel after a fun day in NYC. We only had 8.3 miles to hike so we slept in and took our time getting back to the trail. We got to the Dover tree around 11 am. Beautiful morning with temps in high 60’s low 70’s. The first part of the trail was a lot of pastures and farms. The second half was more forest and mountains. 

For lunch we stopped at a food truck to eat under the shade at a picnic table. Legolas & Bombadil enjoyed their first actual Coca Cola. We been trying to avoid giving them caffeine. They really enjoyed it. 

Here is a picture of the pastures we were hiking through. Tick heaven. Thankfully we only found 2! 

This is where you can actually get on the train right off the AT on the weekends. Since we had a van, we just drove to the actual station. Made it so much easier. lol. 

Had some more awesome board walking sections. We love these flat sections. Although you have to carry your hiking poles since they get caught between the cracks so much. lol. 

Taking a break at a stream to filter some water and enjoy the water. We got them some tootsie roll pops in town, so it’s their afternoon treat! 

At Wiley shelter enjoying a fire. Amee and Froning hiked up 1.5 miles to the shelter to visit and eat dinner. No clue why we didn’t take a picture of all of us! Bummer! We really enjoyed them. 

Now off to bed and more hiking tomorrow. Should cross the state line tomorrow.
