Today’s Photo

The story behind this photo ...
So far this was the 3rd day in VT, and I have yet to be super impressed. I do enjoy the hiking conditions and the softness of the trail, but there hasn’t been much to see. It’s just been one long tunnel of trees. Only one decent view from Harmon hill. So praying things get better. Granted it is still way better than Rockslyvania.
Today we got on the trail by 7 am and had a nice 12.5 mile hike. I do like that VT mountains have a nice grade to them. Today we hiked about 9 miles uphill but it was a gradual one then about 3.5 miles down.

We did “eat” lunch (more liked inhaled it) at the base of the fire tower but it was so buggy that we ate as fast as we could. Unfortunately we couldn’t climb the tower to get away from the flies. Thankfully we had our bug nets.
Nothing to exciting happened on our hike other than the bug explosion at the tip of thy mountain. Thankfully no major bug issues at Kid Gore shelter. This shelter has a great view to the east for sunrises. Praying we see one in the morning.

Found these mushrooms to be interesting and I think the other picture is sorrel but don’t have signal to confirm. If not it’s might be a type of clover. It is wood sorrel and can be eaten. Will be trying some!

This is the view from the shelter and our bed. The boys are working on a fire and then since it’s the weekend they will get to watch a Ryan Trehan video.
We didn’t get to meet up with Amee and Froning today. We will see them tomorrow morning. We have a long day and we pray we can get on the trail at sunrise!
Goodnight.
Gandalf, Legolas & Bombadil.
