Beware: Christians will be persecuted!

Even though this is mainly a frugal/coupon blog, I still enjoy putting up posts of current news and stuff I feel really matters. I am a born-again Christian, and believe that marriage should be between a man and a women. This story made me sick to my stomach when I saw it on Fox and Friends this morning, but also felt encouraged that there still are people that are willing to stand up for what they believe despite the consequences!

The attacks on the current Miss California are just another example of the persecution that Christians should be preparing to face in the not so distant future. Carrie Prejean, Miss 2009 California, pretty much lost any chance to win the Miss USA crown last sunday when she gave her own opinion on the sanctity of marriage. She stood up in her beliefs that marriage should be between a man and a women. She shouldn't be judged or persecuted just because that is what she believes, and shouldn't be negatively put down because her opinion isn't politically correct!

It is simply awful the vile stuff Perez Hilton has called this woman (the "b" and "c" word) since that interview, and the media fall out since. I personally applaud her courage to stand up for her belief in God and marriage. I pray that more and more Christians will continue to stand up for what they believe in as well, even though it may cost us much in the future...including persecution. They are even talking that she may loose her Miss California Crown because of this. Unreal.

We need to start teaching our kids how to handle persecution when standing up for biblical principles, and implanting a sense of character now while they are young cause it will only get worse. This is the type of role model our kids should be looking up to! Way to go Carrie!

Praying for Carrie
Shepherd.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
-Matthew 5:10

Though I don't share her views, I certainly respect her right to voice her opinion. That she may have lost because she stood up for something that many but not all, share, shouldn't have been held against her.

I was glad that she stood up for what she really believed in and did not compromise her belief for something as inconsequential as a Miss USA.

That Perez Hilton gets to call her those names and not face the same kind of scrutiny as she did, is laughable. Goes to show how the rules only apply when it is convenient.

You know it made me angry when I heard what happen to her.
But, her real reward was won when she spoke the truth from her heart,
because the judge that really matters will give her a high score.
